Speaking of noises, help me figure this one out. I posted about it awhile ago but still haven't figured out what it is.

When in reverse, and I step on the gas my car makes a noise. Sounds like brakes dragging, kinda feels like brakes dragging. Like a low grunt kinda sound, not high pitched. BUT, it only does it when I hit the gas. If the car is rolling backwards there is no sound or dragging feeling. Noise is in front. My guess is something in transmission since it rolls fine and free backwards, only acts up when I hit the gas.

    Any clues?

Sheesh bill. Why do I feel I'm the only one you give that advice to? Everyone else you diagnose and write up a small service manual with more pics than my kids Barney books, complete with torque specs and fastener size. But me....nooooo, I get "turn up radio" or "buy an Audi"....

Kidding, seriously though I did just install some new components, so I may just take your advice this time.

my vote is the o2 sensor hitting the firewall. sd headers and no clearing some space in the fire wall.

Well, its a lead I'll check out. I did pound the wall, but it was after I bolted the rear header on so I had to do it with a long punch. Didn't get as much smashed as I would like to. Rear wideband though I smashed it at least an inch in with a 3 pound sledge.

After over 11 years of owning my 40th anniversary GP GT (April 2004), I am finally installing a new fuel pump. I am cleaning out the fuel tank right now. Surprisingly, there is not much dirt in there for 214,000 miles (I figure I have pumped over 9000 gallons of fuel into the tank) I have seen pictures of fuel tanks with lots and lots of sludge and sediment in the bottom of the tank.
I am just barely able to reach my arm through the hole vacated by the pump to reach the bottom part of the tank. Bless the GM designers who built the easy access hole in the trunk, and also built the tank out of plastic.
I know it is not absolutely necessary to clean out the entire fuel tank, but I would like the new OEM pump to operate in a clean tank.
I have already installed a new fuel filter.

Nearly every W will make that noise. It might be the springs rubbing on the spring rubber or mounts or just the crappy design of the LCA's.. but trust me.. if I get into a W and it doesn't do that, I know it's a dream or something is seriously wrong. You don't need pictures, you don't need a manual and you don't need torque specs.... you need to "turn the radio up"

Best advice is turn the radio up.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Reading your reassuring posts is like pulling up an oversized comforter to my chin on a cold winter night in front of the fireplace. You put the "warm" into warm and fuzzies.

^If that sounded gay, I meant it to dammit!

I guess my gp is a dream then, I have no suspension noises. Just the interior panels rattling lol. Motor mounts are going but that just started. Everything is new though, still a w body.

I'd also suggest you turn the radio up, or buy an Audi. Both will fix your issues.

Trying to replace the o2 sensor, the new ones starting to strip, making me mad. Might try to just delete the downstream o2 sensor, or I will have to try to rethread the o2 sensor.

It has tires and a lot more modules etc to go wrong, so it's possible for sure. I am enjoying the hell out of the refinement that makes it what it is though. Even if some noise was possible.. you wouldn't hear it inside the cockpit.

I'm waiting for a motor mount code one day. That's right folks...even the motor mounts have sensors built into them.

Put 185 miles on it so far since Friday, which for me is more than I usually put on it in 1.5 weeks. Should see mpgs in the 20's for the first time since I've owned it.

Damn, I might put 185 miles on in 2 months. I live a mile from work and 2 miles from Walmart lol. I don't even drive to work most of the time. Hell now that it's starting to cool off the car will probably only get driven on weekends. lol. Only time I really get to put some miles on it is when we go to Springfield, that's normally 120 miles or so.
