If you're in the market for an 04 GTP, I've been considering selling mine for just a little more then you're looking at paying for the one you posted. Drop me a line if you're interested, details on my car are in the link below. It's a 2004 GT with a GTP Engine and CompG Trans installed. 100% complete and running like it should. It's been my daily driver for several years now.

Still not as good as the metal, but if he has done that with proof (receipts) then at least the maintenance confidence can be redeemed. Outside of the enthusiasts I doubt people would even check about having a metal gasket instead when getting the repair done.

Changing the LIM immediately isn't a necessity. We just passionately recommend them as most of us can do the job themselves. What is a necessity though is switching out the coolant to the green stuff. Then just keep an eye on things. Look for the coolant leaks, monitor the temp closely, etc.
Theres no "necessity" to switching out the coolant to green, nothing wrong with dexcool.
There is however a neccesity make sure your coolant is topped up/not leaking and flushed as part of a regular maintenace schedule when needed no matter what type you use.

He said he replaced the gasket. He said he sent in and had head and valves checked. I asked him what was wrong and he said "Leaked". He said it was no big deal but it was his sons car and his son was very picky about any issue with the car.

Checked the Carfax report too and it looked good. One accident involving front impact with "Very minor damage" reported back in August 2014. This must be the scratches on the front he mentioned. He's going to get pics to me.

Car was originally sold in Canada and spent the first 98k miles there under 1 owner.

I asked for some more pics from the seller so I could see the "scratches" on the front and get a better look at the interior. Looks pretty freaking good to me with the exception of the minor damage on the front bumper. He said it might have a small crack in it.

Wonder what that would cost to repair or patch?

    Might just leave it.

How much should I ask him to knock off for that?

nice looking car, I would go look at it and possibly consider buying it. personally I prefer the 1997-2003 body style, but the newer body style has a few advantages. before I buy a car I usually have a trusted mechanic look over it, just to have a second pair of eyes. The GT model should run cheaper because the GTP has more options, like leather seats. as far as the bumper goes, fixing it is not going to be cheap. I would guess at least 500 to get the bumper fixed, and that is only if it doesn't need to be replaced.

    Thanks for responding Sgt,
So you don't see any issues with the Head / gasket situation? (See post above the ones with pics)

it seems strange that it would leak, but if it has been driven for a while with no issues I probably wouldn't worry.

Grab a new bumper for $200-300, add another $200 or so to have it sprayed.. Probably not worth fixing the current one.

Sucks that the cluster reads in kilometers, would be goofy driving down the road.

What?! I didn't notice that! I knew the car was originally from Canada but I didn't think about that!

I thought 04+ could switch with the dic. Or is that the advanced dic only?

I didn't know it worked this way. Never needed to change it I guess.

That's not so bad. He'll get better at "reading between the lines"!
