When I bought my 05 GP I never really tried to unlock the door using the key until a few months and it would not go in all the way or turn. I realized if my car died somehow and it was lock, I would have no way of getting in. I already had a cop break into it once when I left my keys inside my car. Ive been searching on some sites the past hour and can't find anything on what the part is called. I search key lock cylinder, lock cylinder and cant find zip...

Here's a pic of what im talking about...

http://www.rockauto.com/ might have it.. however, Im not sure how thats going to work considering your keys wont open it or if they do the alarm will go off everytime since the chip isnt right. I could be wrong.

That might end up being a dealer part, and they may be able to match it to your current key, The chip in it won't matter, so if you have to get a different one with a different key it won't matter.

Doesn't Jeremy have a door that sets the alarm off with the key due to a chip or something?

No, if the car thinks its locked it might, but as soon as you put the key in the ignition it stops.

i see this way too much lol

you can coat the key in a thin oil and get a rust penetrant into the lock cylinder (door lock cylinder) with a pick holding the sealing flap open.

then with long careful working youll probably get it to free up and start working...keep spraying and working it (the spraying into the groove/key slot will flush out the brass/pot metal corrosion)

ive only had a couple that didnt free up, but did once i got the door panel off and was able to lube the cylinder and "help" the arm wiggle till it sree'd up and turned with just the key.

at least in the older days you had a passenger door key hole you could try....but gotta cut costs!

ive done the oil thing with nothing other than the oil and dipstick from a dodge intrepid to get the lock cylinder to free up on a 94 cutlass

10$ can of penetrating oil and a few dabs of oil off yer dipstick is craploads cheaper than anything yer thinking of...

    try it first

I only thought about replacing because i only got one key and key fob when i bought the car. I just assumed previous owner broke key inside "reason why it doesn't go in all the way" but I'll try oil and wd40 tmr and let u all know.

Mine goes off because in my door I have a 98 lock module in a 2001 grand prix.
