I was just about to post a question about how they handle in the snow. I own a 99 gt and live in Pa. This will be my first winter with the car.

I got good all seasons now, it just seams when it's raining and I'm going around a corner or turn it feels like the front end slides going at 35 mph. I had some cars do that when the front wheel bearings are bad and it's dry outside.

spinning the tires in the rain while turning will always make the car hit the curb. snow is worse.

check your sway bars end links and the bar ends, they could be snapped off if your tires are squealing around turns or plowing hard.

Endlinks are good, looks like the previous owner installed poly bushings on links. I'm also wondering what is the normal ride height of the car? From ground to bottom of car. Mine seams more level than most I see around. I might have to call previous owner to see if he changed the struts to lower it a little. I have all the maintenance records but didn't see anything. It's no big deal, I just want to know for future ref.

I remember reading that the GP wasn't really much wider than the competition.. Oh GM.

But yes, these cars rock in snow. My Bonne is a tank. Never got her stuck.

I remember the commercial. The note says it aired in 1998. My dad bought a '97 GP GT coupe, and after I saw the commercial, the next time I drove the '97 GP, I remember trying to take turns going faster than usual to see if it really handled better. I could not tell that it handled any better than any other car I had driven.

Funny how they always advertise the Grand Prix as being a "widetrack". Guess this means the car has more width which will enable it to handle better, meaning the wheels are set out farther than any other car.
In comparison, owners of Buick Regal (another w-body) have measured the width of these cars and they were wider, I think by 1" or so. These owners documented this on ClubGP.

I'd say the GP handles fairly well as long as you have good tires. I don't know what the stock ones are for the GP but the stock tires for my 98 bonneville were absolute garbage. When I bought new decent tires (although all season) it completely changed how my car handled. Even just doing poly end link bushings changed how it handled a lot. There's actually been more than a few times where I was taking a freeway exit or interchange way faster than I should and I could watch the idiot behind me get squirrelly trying to keep up with me

Idiot behind you needed a driver mod. GPs only handle fairly well if you've never driven something that does handle well.

agreed but it's not like I'm talking about corvettes or lambos or anything. I'm comparing it to your average passenger vehicles like camrys, sentras, SUVs, etc.

A 12 second GP is still damn quick even if there are thousands of other cars that are quicker.
