What year car are we dealing with?
2001 gt. Every thing ive been reading points to the ignition switch
I'd say ignition switch too.
My sisters 02 GT has this same problem. I swapped blower motors with my car and still did it, I bought a new blower motor resistor and helped but it still will either work on all settings, just on high or it will just stop working altogether. Sometimes it will work on 5 if you turn the car on and it's there but as soon as you go down to 4 is shuts off and if you switch back to 5 it wont work again.
Next set is the ignition swap as that is the whole thing controlling power to it, the part is not to much. Rockauto has a brand new AC DELCO units for 75 bucks I think.
How to remove it and swap new in.

I ordered a new ignition switch today. I am also replacing the rack and pinion now.
I just finished taking my heater blower motor out yesterday and there was no signs of wear, I was about to call my service guy then I read your post. I rushed outside re-installed the blower motor, giggled the ignition key and abracadabra my blower is working. Thanks guys, you just saved me my rent money.
Another give away is if your auto headlights shut off at the same time as the blower motor. Whenever my blower motor would kick off the auto headlights turned off as well. Switched to a junkyard ignition switch and all is well now. If I had a schematic I could show you what fuse to probe to see if its the ignition switch dropping out.
well that's promising. I seem to be having the same issue and although I know the resistor is bad, I should at least have #5 heat (if I am correct). my symptoms match yours to a tee.
how was the job?
interesting...however I am not finding this to be the case. auto lights are working fine but no blower.
The job of replacing the ignition switch only took about an hour. Just having the right tools helps alot
Right. Well I did some testing with the resistor last night and when the dial is turned to number 5, I have power all the way up to the resistor. Probably just gonna replace it and go from there.
They go bad anyways. Replace the resistor and if its still broke you know what to try next.
