    Hey everyone,

I have been looking for a reliable car for awhile now and yesterday I found it in a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GT2. Normally I would have passed up a car that has 160,000 miles on it, but after finding out that it had over 40 service records from the SINGLE OWNER, which seemed like every other line was recommended maintenance performed I simply could not pass this car up and knowing it came from a guy who used to play MLB. Out the door, I paid $4500, I will post pictures soon, I am going to pick it up tomorrow, it is getting detailed for me.

Let me know what you think of this deal? I have heard that the 3800 V6 is a very reliable car and the fact that the person was very adamant about their maintenance schedule makes me believe it will be a great car.

    Thanks!

    John

yea 4,500 is a little high for the miles but as long as it's maintained properly you may not regret it

Most people quote price, not out the door price. Seams like $4000 is fair. Condition condition condition is the real measure of value.

^ remember not everyone is fortunate enough to stumble upon a deal like that.

$4kish sounds about right so you might of overpaid slightly but not enough to really make a difference.

A single owner well maintained car justifies a premium in my book. I think you did pretty well. Along with all the service records please make sure the trans received service at regular intervals.

Yeah it's a little high but I got my car a little over priced also but I was willing to pay it cause it had one owner. Top rated Grand Prix year by consumer reports and had service records and only had 60k on it. I think your fine one owner you know it runs good. Peace of mind is worth it to me anyway

The market also plays a big part in it. GP's and other 3800 cars were super plentiful in my area. Finding a SC Bonneville, Riviera, Park Ave, Regal or GP is as easy as driving down the road. Other parts of the country..that is not the case. Canada as well.

A buddy and I picked up a flip car recently. 2004 GT (very base), needed LIM gaskets and coolant elbows changed out, front end links and tires. An oil pan gasket, arm rest and door spring would be a next to do, but likely not going to do it. Car has 121K miles we paid $1500 and the car books for an easy $4300
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

This is so true. Finding a decent L67 car here is like finding a needle in a haystack. Especially one that hasn't been hack modded. I think cars here in the southwest may hold a little more value due to them having little to no rust also.

Those of us from the north have trouble understanding how a car can last so long w/o rusting. And at the same time.. we don't understand how batteries and wipers go so fast for you guys.

Our cars rot from the top down. Paint, dash pads, weatherstrip, and yes, batteries. I've noticed that the plastic is much more brittle too.

Haha! No, It sounds worse than it is. I'm just saying each region has it's own separate issues. Nothing is safe from the hands of time.

I do envy your service records as mine came with only about 8... but 04 GTP with $104k miles for $4600. Just bought last week, fun so far.
