Hey guys, I used the search function and scrolled through over a dozen topics on this same question. None ever came to a conclusion.

I want to take an 01+ wheel as seen below:

And swap it into my 2000. It seems a lot of people have wondered about doing this, but I cant find any concrete evidence on it working.

Would the clock springs be the same? Is it a case of simply uninstalling and swapping over? I cant see a lot changing in one model year.

Any and all input would be greatly appreciated. I cant stand the 2000 wheel.

I haven't personally done it, but from what I have read you need to either use the 01+ upper steering shaft or swap the column (probably the easiest). The 01+ steering wheel has a different number of splines. Here's a guy that did it to his TA:

I think this is the part #:

Here is the newer style shaft:

I actually looked mostly for 97-00 grand prixs because I can't stand the newer style wheel lol

That seems like a bunch of work just to have a grand prix wheel. I would do it if it was a simple swap of the wheels.

I'll leave it alone. Why bother risking it.
    Thanks guys.

That steering wheel also came in the 2000+ Bonneville. From having access to my 2000 gtp and a 2000 ssei i prefer the feel of my 2000 gtp steering wheel. if feels softer and gripier than the newer steering wheel. yes, it does have more modern button design and lay out but overall the newer design steering wheel feels cheaper to me.
