So I've seen the how-to on this subject but still have some questions. I have a 98 Gt. It's a very basic model GP. No leather, no HUD, basic mirror. Will I have the proper connections to make the mirror work or should I just skip it? Also from searching the forum I found that there's a connector near the battery that would make the temp sensor work. What are the chances I have this? I'm not even sure if these options were offered in 98 or not until the later 01+ models. Any info that people can give me would be great. Also if any one has done it and wants to explain how it went that'd be helpful to for me to decide if I want to try or not. Thanks

You'll have everything there to make the auto-dimming work. I like it to be clean and swapped the wires from the old mirror into the new connector. The temp is two wires that run out to the sensor in the front bumper. It's insanely easy...took me 30 minutes including running new wires.

I'm looking at them on ebay. They have the connector but the wires have been cut. Will I have to strip them and connect them to the wires that are up there already? I'm just having trouble finding good pictures to get a better idea of what it will be like.

Warning: the direction in the mirror may be opposite of the compass reading lol

I took the terminals out of my connector and shoved them in the other connector.

Why would it be backwards? Would it be as simple as switching some wires if they were connected backwards?

And Sven, that's a good idea I didn't think about that. Looks like I'll go ahead and order one.

It's not just a good idea...it's the way it should be done. Slicing is for those who hack things. If it can be made to work without splicing, that's the proper route. LOL
