So I know there's some people on this board that will not find this interesting at all but for those like me I'm posting it because I thought it was cool. I always like seeing old things like this from when GPs were either new or still being sold kind of like a snapshot of time. My mom works at a school and when they clean out old magazines she brings the ones with interesting covers home to read the major events that were going on at the time. Anyway here is the very first page of the magazine once you flip past the cover.

Black 98 GT bought in summer of 2009 w/28K miles- GTX Rims, Retrofit headlights, tinted tails, 20% tint all around, KYB Excel-G's, WBS Lowering Springs, 33mm Dorman front sway bar, 22mm Addco rear sway bar, BMR trailing arms, BMR STBs front and rear, ZZP control arms, Poly motor mounts, ZZP CAI, Thrasher shift kit

Newsweek September 1996. Has a cover about a mission to Mars on it incase you look for it on ebay or something.

And framing it isn't a bad idea I might look into that. Too bad it's in kinda rough shape.

^^^ Now that's pretty cool. I realize that these cars aren't anything special but I think that's what makes it cool when something like this is found. Looking at all the hotwheels on ebay that are GPs is pretty neat. Like a camaro you expect to see all over the place but not a GP.

While I haven't posted much on here, and my join date is far after when I first started lurking, I'm happy to see such a continued interest in Grand Prixs. I'm 33, and sold Olds and Pontiac when I was in college from 99-03. I remember when we couldn't keep a black GTP in stock. I remember when the 01 Special Editions came out...the 02 40ths...the 03 Limited Editions (or are those S/Es too?). I remember buying tons of used 97-01s at the auction and selling them to younger guys...some got modded in our own Service Department with SLP lowering kits, exhausts etc. I remember how many coupes I sold in 02 when we got word that 03 would not offer a coupe.

My mother bought a 95 SE sedan in dark teal brand new...then a 98 GT sedan in black new...then an 01 in dark forest green that was around until my sister traded it in 2010. I had a Redfire 01 GT Coupe until 2006, when I started working for a Chrysler dealer and sold it because I got a demo. I still love and miss that car...its still alive and kicking with about 150k on it a haf hour from here (had 66k on it when I sold it).

For those that were into cars when these were new, you probably remember how hot these things were. I remember guys on message boards trading LT1 F bodies in for brand new GTPs. Its sad to me that so many of these are now beaten, rotted hulks of what they once were. When I see an adult driven, clean one, it still catches my eye because it was such a great design. Even though I own an 04, the 04-08 style never compared. My customers didn't like them as much. I own an 04 only because my wife liked that style better in 06 when she needed a car.

I've often considered selling my 97 Camaro and buying the cleanest GTP coupe I can find from down south, and doing it up...GTX hood and spoiler, bolt ons, IC, etc. I've always loved Pontiacs, and while its hard for me to pick my favorite, a 97-02 GTP coupe may just be it.

    Sorry for the sappy story
    88 IROC 350 - 23k miles, bone stock 97 Z28 30th Anniversary - 75k miles, SLP Bolt ons
    00 SS - 11k miles, OEM SLP goodies 04 Comp G - 64k miles, stock for now...
    07 Sierra Duramax 750 lb/ft of badass 13 Charger R/T - 2k miles, bone stock, Wife's car

I liked the story. I remember when these GTPs were new they were a big deal.

I drug one up from Florida that was an one owner and I love it.

This is mine that I have in my game room.

Jason, that's a very cool story. I was too young to really even care about cars when the 97-03s were popular. Wish I had though haha.

And nate that is pretty cool. I like the "hold tight" haha.
