I'm a little strapped for cash, and I'm wondering if there are any relatively easy steps to improving the gas usage. I have an 05 Grand Prix GT w/ 3800 V6.

What kind of mileage are you getting? Make sure your tires are inflated properly, accelerate and drive and brake like a grandma, make sure your air filter is clean.

Press up your tires to the max pressure stamped on the tire's sidewall (usually 44 psi).

If you have a tuner, advance the ignition timing when cruising.

Empty out that trunk, at least as much as possible (admittedly my tools go with me at all times in my GP).

Keep your foot out of the floor.

Time stoplights so you don't hurry up and wait at a red.

Take the longest leg of your errands first if you have several things to do. That way the car is warm, cold starts are terrible on gas.

Take the highway as much as possible. 3800's eat gas in town.

    The air conditioner/defogger eats gas.

Make sure your tune up is up to par.

Biggest gas saver is your foot... This is a free mod. Learn to drive like a grandma.

Aside from that yea you'll be looking to spend some money doing a tune up, cleaning the TB, maf etc plug and wires.

You should have started this thread by telling us what kind of mileage you're getting.

Driving sensibly and avoiding as many lights as possible got me 29.85 MPGs in my 05 Base Model Grand Prix.
