2004 Grand Prix GT steering acted up a few days ago. Started a little squealing and very hard to turn left. Friend of mine flushed it and it was a lot better but still acting up. Hard to the left and fine to the right. Any ideas? Thanks

your rack is doing the slow death. soon it will be hard as hell to turn left, and then turning right will match soon after that.

its only gonna get worse. as you know already, the car turns better when its rolling vs stopped dead now.

Proabably not long. Dangerous? I'd say so.

When the rack finally went on my 00 GT I was trying to make a left on a yield green with traffic coming the other way and got 1/4 way into the intersection and the rack locked up. I was almost at the point where I was going to just hop the curb or get broadsided. I think that is the absolute hardest I have ever pulled on a steering wheel in my life. Of course my 4yr old was with me at the time as well so it was a bit scary. Me, I would change it now before it does go as it is already telling you "hey, I'm dying here".
