I just wasted like 45 minutes using a scratch pad..... Lol and I was scrubbing hard, I don't think my windshield looks much better but it's dark so I'll wait till morning to get a good visual. But your suing steel whool doesn't scratch the glass...? And man I'm telling you it is hard to get off... So..

Nah steel wool wont scratch it I work in a restoration shop I have to clean glass thats 40+ years old lol. Never scratched a window, just make sure you use the fine steel wheel like 00 or 0000 nothing to coarse. Use glass cleaner with it (the foaming kind works best)

Someone recommended this, Mother's California GoldĀ® Water Spot Remover for Glass which I have used on both my car and shower doors. It works good. If you do it by hand you need a little bit of elbow grease. Meguiars has also come out with a water spot remover. I recommend you run a clay bar over it first prior to using either the mother's or meguiar's products. You could also try vinegar mixed with water.

Working on cars that sit for half a year in the lot at my dealership, claybar could help. Or a simple AC Delco class cleaner we're supplied with and some steal wool, then use those squared red rags they supply use and grab two, fold them into fourths and boom. Window rag lol. Simple..
