Thread: Cleaning Glass

Alright guys, I've tried everything, windex, stoners glass cleaner, noting had made a difference, I feel like it is pollin but I'm not sure but when I try and clean it will look nice and clean for a few seconds then it will absorb back to the same look, it's on all the glass, my windshield, all 4 windows, mirrors and sunroof, if I take my dry, bare finger and rub it, it will just smere but nothing will be on my finger... Someone help me clean this stuff off...

I wonder if a clay bar will take that off.

I was thinking that but it would be alotttt of clay and lubricant...

I got the same problem...I used windex, invisible glass, vinegar, degreaser, etc and nothing changed. I did try a clay bar....nothing happened. Idk what it is either and is pi$$es me off

I have type 3 water spots all over my car. It looks exactly like that.

I want to think its like melted to the glass from sitting in the hot sun but my buddy said that wouldn't be the case

Seems like your going to have to polish the glass to try and get the etched marks out.

With the machine buffer of course

I usually take it to the car wash and get the hot wax... Usually works, no guarantee ... Give it a try : )

Why would I use wax when I'm trying to get it off?

To the OP or to anyone else with this problem, I was bored tonight so I figured I would try to solve this problem. I did some experimenting and came up with a solution that gets rid of all water spots! There is 3 basic things you need - time, lots of elbow grease, and a scotch pad.

Now you're probably going to say a scotch pad wont work! But in fact it does, it acts like sand paper but its not. Hard to explain. I had the same problem the OP has. I took 30 min tonight to clean my drivers window.....and dear god is there a HUGE difference. It actually is clear, ZERO water spots, I mean ZERO!!

So your saying just a scotch pad is the only material you need.....?

Yessir! I tried so many things you dont even want to know...and tonight I was in the f*ck it mood. So I was like hey, I'll try steel wool (What did I have to loose? A window lol). Tried it, and at first I was like this isnt working, wth?!? Kept rubbing for a little bit longer and applied some pressure.....and BAM its like magic. Seriously its amazing!

I used the steel wool to take the calcium off, then I used windex to clean it up.

I used the 0000 type steel wool. It is a really fine material.

Use some fine steel wool with glass cleaner on it, it should take it off. It wont scratch it

Try Bon-ami cleanser, it is a non abrasive cleanser and works wonders on glass, just be sure to use a lot of water. Or try this, Mother's California Gold® Water Spot Remover for Glass.
