I've been told using the ac in my car uses more gas, does it?

Makes a bigger load on the motor, does reduce HP by 5-10 and in some cases reduce MPG.
Mainly in the city, I'd say maybe a 1-2 mpg difference on the open highway if that.
Even if my air conditioning worked great I wouldn't use it lol. I love cruising with the windows down. And yes, it does hurt mpg.
Maybe. I wouldn't bee too concerned though. Ive noticed if Im hot I drive more recklessly so if you are concerned with MPGs just have it on when you are getting warm. Not sure if you experience LFS (lead foot syndrome) when you get hot or not but you have it so you might as well use it.
Honestly the only time i've ever noticed it making a "real" difference in power is in a 4cyl car.
In my moms old car I had to turn the A/c off to safely merge onto the highway.
Living in FL I will not drive a car without AC especially with dark interior. Hell ill break a sweat just walking outside to the mailbox let alone in a car.
Junkyard compressor if it comes to that. Freon is cheap. Nobody likes sweaty pits ya kno.
