    Bluemagic--

    Water Pump: $34.99
    Duralast New/Water Pump (BWP-9016) | 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix 6 Cylinders 1 3.8L SFI SC OHV | AutoZone.com

    Valve cover gasket: $55.99
    Felpro/Valve Cover Gasket (VS50465R) | 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix 6 Cylinders 1 3.8L SFI SC OHV | AutoZone.com

    LIM gasket: $44.99
Aluminum Lower Intake Manifold Gasket Set

Thermostat: $6.99 (and can be replaced in ten minutes flat)
    Colder Thermostat

Oil change... just any deal at Autozone/OReilly's/whatever for five quarts plus oil filter for the $20-25 range.
Just remember that any filter is better than FRAM.

    Serpentine belt: $23.99
    http://shop.zzperformance.com/store/...ine-Belts.aspx

Total cost in the $200 range. Tell the guy who quoted you $1,200 to take a flying leap.

Rattling noise is likely a loose bearing or more likely the supercharger coupler. Don't get an OE replacement, I made that mistake three months ago and I need to replace it again. Get an over-engineered coupler from ZZ Performance or some other vendor.

No heat is either (1) a heater core issue, or (2) blend door actuators misbehaving. Both are a PITA.

I have gotten to the point when I look at a car, if I am unsure I will put out the money and take it to my mechanic for a diagnostic. If they are not willing to take it for me to pay for it, I move on.

I would really just check the whole thing out because like you said you never know though I would look at things like fluid levels as well and try to see how the trans runs. I am sure others will chime in.

All of that is common anyway. I would replace all of those things right off the bat anyway if I bought another wbody.

    UPDATE!

went to see the car today and these are my findings. Car needed to be jumped to start, got it to start and noticed smoke for the rear manifold and attributed that to the leaky gasket. After awhile the smoke went away. This is my only concern at this moment, when revving the car I noticed a clicking noise from the exhaust area in the back and smoke comes out when accelerating. Any ideas of what the noise could be? Also haven't drove the car yet because the battery died. It was reading 11.6 so I knew it was coming. I have video so I'm going to try to post it. Thanks guys.

That small little bend is where the smoke and noise Is coming from. Any ideas? Something pricey? Cheap?

If the car did not have the voltage to stay running once jumpstarted, plan on an alternator too.

1900 for a 100k 02 GTP very nice price even considering the usual common repairs it would need that's cheap and so are the parts!

Yeah, it's a shame around the KC metro area...either they want a billion and a half for one...or they're so beat to sh1t it'd be cheaper to build one from a set of lincoln logs.

    Need more video...really.

Kinda sounds like a coupler...or maybe something valvetrain related.

Too high pitched/metallic to sound bottom end related from the quick clip you posted.

I'm hoping for exhaust. That's what I'm leaning towards anyways. Only under acceleration and goes away after initial acceleration
