Hi Ya'll, last night I was driving my 2004 grand prix gtp around and all the sudden I lost power steering, so I pulled over and my tranny line coming from the radiator popped out of the fitting and leaked a ton of tranny fluid out and my main drive belt snapped. So I got a new belt and added about 3 qts of tranny fluid and everything is good now. im still about 2 qts low so im gonna go pick some up in a little bit. So my questions are... Should my tranny be fine with just adding tranny fluid? And how should I Clean my engine bay? I just don't want to power wash my engine bay and then hit a wire and my car doesn't start. Just want to know how safe it is and what kind of precautions should I take if any.

While I can't help you on the transmission issue, I plan on using this method to clean out the bay of my car! I have an antifreeze leak from the coolant elbows on top of I don't think it's even been cleaned lol!

Buy a can of engine degreaser from auto parts store. With engine cold soak it with the degreaser. Then....use a pressure washer and hold the hose a few feet back so its not full pressure on anything. Or even a water hose with a little pressure can wash it.

Take a few thrash bags or grocery bags and cover your coil packs, alternator, battery, air filter/pcm. Spray down engine with super clean( engine degreaser sucks imo) Then rinse it down. Do this till clean.

    Thats overkill.

Spray cleaner on, wash off. No need for those silly trash bags.

I wouldn't spray the alternator or air cleaner directly.. otherwise it's fair game. I've powerwashed, super cleaned, simple greened, and purple powered. Most stuff is water tolerant under the hood.

On the trans.. get it up to the right level. Time will tell if anything went bad. Although it's a hydraulic operated item.
    Without fluid..it doesn't work.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
