    find a used engine, and tranny if you can. cl part outs are a great place to find stuff. or junk yards.

    if a l67 is not to be found, you could get a n/a engine and top swap it with your parts if the heads are not damaged.

    no way id be rebuilding for those prices. used works out most of the time. some have had bad luck tho.

    a used motor and tranny could be 1000 or less. if your installing it, if you have to pull it out of a parts car, the price could also drop.

    heres a thread, shows the difference between gen 3 and 5 blowers, side by side. 04 and up should be gen 5 l32

    oh i forgot to add, you dont "have" to find a l32, a l67 will work, swap your lim and blower, fuel rails, and injectors on the donor engine and let it rip.

    L26 = 04+ Series III Block Naturally Aspirated
    L36 = 97-03 Series II Block Naturally Aspirated

    L32 = 04+ Series III Block w/ Gen V Eaton M90 Blower
    L67 = 97-03 Series II Block w/ Gen III Eaton M90 Blower

    Advice has already been given to you. Locate a used engine and transmission. I have seen combos sold for ~$1000-1500 dollars.

    If you go that route, replace fluids, do tune up, replace LIM gaskets if not already done, and foremost.....

    RUN AT LEAST 91+ OCTANE FUEL!

    On the brighter side... it might not actually be an internal transmission problem.

    You have not described the problem in full detail... when it happens, what it sounds like, and so on.

    It could be anything from a busted sway bar link, bushing shot, ball joint toasted, engine mount gone, strut mount trashed.

    thats all either been changed or checked already. When i go from forward to reverse and give it a little gas there is a little bang in front right side when its up in the air u can feel it in the tranny and also see the pass side cv shaft shift very slightly.. Also just put in a new shaft.

    as per your looking for a engine thread, if you have a comp g, you need a comp G trans, thats gonna be a bit harder to find, and cost more.

    and what is the trans doing? why toss money at something when your not 100% sure whats going on?

    you need motor mounts i bet, the engine and tranny will move forward and back inches when they are shot, and clunk hard when put into gear.

    I believe I read somewhere you have a Comp-G... which has 3.29 gear.

    There is no "better" gear.

    3.29 gears are designed to have higher acceleration, but lower top speeds. This also affects fuel mileage negatively.

    Like I said we do not hold your hand. It is your vehicle; your responsibility to make those calls. We all have repetitively stated just buy a junkyard motor.

    And why do you say you don't want to go through the hassle of swapping everything out, when you so eagerly want to take the engine to a machine shop? You do know they can't rebuild your engine inside the vehicle right?

    You want to sell it, I'll give you $1500 for it.

    yes i know that, i dont want someone holding my hand just looking for good advice and wanna make sure its done right just stuck 2,000 into it, and now all this, so kinda skeptic on doin ne more. No its booked at 7,000 or higher doesnt show a comp g price, and runs, so no way. And i dont wanna have to buy all that different stuff when i have all the stuff i need to make the right engine work.. Where is a good place to look for engines and trannys i looked on car part.com anywhere else got good deals yards around here are expensive

    The car MIGHT book out at $7,000 IF the engine and transmission weren't toast.

    Just saying.
