i just got a scanner recently (Scan Gauge ii) and i put in the gm specific knock code and it reads 0.0 at all times except for 2 times. i have it on update fast, and it blinked to .8 then to 1.5 kr then the next day i got it to .7 then next blink to 1.7 then back down during WOT runs. is this possible? this is on a warm stock supercharged engine in winter. could it actually be that low or just bad knock sensors or bad gauge or gauge code? thoughts?

    thanks in advance

91 in IL do you live in the boons? Your stock knock is 100% fine. some cars have 4 or more

i live in the suburbs, and i just feel its really low, should i be concerned that its not appropriately measuring knock for some reason?

feel its low? you dont want any kR, or as little as possible.

the air temp can cause it rise or drop as well, cold air is denser, you could see a bit more when its cold out vs warmer air.

im happy that its low but ive read that most stock have 4 to 5 and im only maxing out at 1.5 but even on most WOT pulls i stay at 0.0. so i feel the sensor may be bad or the gague isnt working properly

im sure the gauge works fine, and so is your car. they all act a bit different. try running 93 octane. it may get rid of it all for you.

I had the exact opposite effect in cold weather. I went from 2* at 80 in warm weather to 0* till over 100 in colder weather.

I dont understand why you're upset with such low KR.

I'm sure the scan gauge is reading correctly, be happy with only seeing 1* of KR.

You would get a code for a bad knock sensor or needing a case learn if anything was wrong with reading kr... Stuff is fine your just lucky.
