I have a 2000 GTP and the transmission is going out. I got ripped off (long story) and had to swap it out when I bought it. So a few months ago put a used one (out of a wrecked 2000 GTP with 102K on it) it for 250 and now its lost 4th and is slipping a bit just like the old one did before it finally went.
Anyway, the body isn't very good on this car but it has a good interior and some good parts and tires are good. What I was thinking about doing was getting a gt and using the intake and supercharger and computer off this car for a gt if I find one cheap. I suppose there will be other things I will need as well. If anyone knows specifically that would be cool.
But the specific questions are 1)Does the GT have to be year specific on transmission for the PCM 2)Do the GT's have same transmissions as GTP counterparts and what years are interchangeable?
Another question: Since I have had 2 GTPs and have had 1 tranny rebuild that was on its last leg when I sold it, and two transmissions in this car--is there a rebuild kit that is more heavy duty than what would be considered stock? Maybe I'll just find someone selling one with a good body and bad tranny and have it rebuilt with a heavy duty transmission kit or something. I mean, I don't race the cars and there aren't any mods on them and I don't really drive hard.
