That would be up to the car.
You may be able to toss a cam in the car like a VS cam and nothing needs to be changed. Same for rockers, they do so little anyway.
i run rockers and 90# valve springs with just a tune for headers rear o2 delete egr delete and 3.4 pulley and she runs great... now if i could just get the sc to seal to the lim id be golden![]()
Good info, sounds about right. I want the VS cam but with these Cali emmision laws, Im leaning towards Rockers. Figured they would be easier to install, Tune, and pass Smog. I never drove a 3800 with upgraded Rockers but im assuming it would make enough difference for me to be satified a bit.
Man, we would be straight if the 3800s came with just a lil more top end power from the GET GO...LOL
indubidably![]()
LOL....
Rockers will only provide benefits on the top end... And many get the bug once installed for more power through the entire RPM cycle, ala Cam!
But then once with a new cam you want more power then come heads, much porting, inter cooling, turbo, etc., etc.
My point is... Try to have a plan PRIOR to beggining modding and know exactly where you want you car to go (pun)... As far as HP, Razekar, DD, etc. It'll help you save some $ and work in the long run.
ive got 1.9 hs rollers and im content but im at 250k miles so cam is for the rebuild when i get to it
Funny how this is. You ask the same questions on regalgs.org and was given answers. You didn't like them. You turned around and flamed the other members (the reason for you ban) and you come in here and ask the same thing. For your posts that I've seen on here and from what crap you posted on the Regal board you seemed to know everything on regalgs.org. Zmax, engine oil, etc. You knew it all. Yet you come on here and ask the same questions. I just don't get you.
im looking to turbo but when i find a l32 is when i ll turbo so not for a few years but i love my hs 1.9s
Basic tune or dialed in tune would be my question back to you Dee. Base to get it up and running decently.
Rockers: nothing
Cam: remove P0300 code.
From there you look at any other mods being done.
Maf
Headers/exhaust
Different TB
Then you toss in the basics for those changes. Once you do that..the car is typically driveable. If you wanted to truly dial in the tune, you go from there.
Good info, I've heard of guys throwing in CAMSHAFTS with any tunes and driving the car with no major issues. Hard to believe, but not only wouldnt I do it but its totally unsafe for the motor.
Rockers are more tolerable without a tune, but both would definately benefit from one.
I had rockers kept them for 2 weeks..bought a cam..then sold the rockersthat tells you something. I was one of the guys that kept reading how most rockers guys end up selling and going cam and are much happier but I figured ill be happy w/ rockers those other guys are just horsepower freaks..nope they told the truth lol. We a cam like the vs you don't have to get a tune right off the back although its always recommend.
So you never installed your rockers? You may have been content with them, but then again I'm not sure what kind of power you were looking for.
So driving with that Cam with no tune didn't cause any performance drivability issues? Other than it having more power, I imagined it at least driving a lil weird or rough....but hey that's a good thing that it didn't
Yea they were installed for that 2 week period. It had more top end as opposed to stock but when you can cam for a little bit more there was no comparison. Yea driving about 500 miles or so untuned to make sure everything is good as far as maintenance (been around 1.5 years or so since I drove the car) then ill be making a 6 hour or so drive to have it tuned.
