    Hi everyone,

So i sucessfully wired up my new Pioneer head unit yesterday. I found a Scosche wiring harness/RAP/Chime thingy at walmart for $40. Got everything wired up and the radio works great. Something weird is happening now. Every so often, all my gauges except the speedometer will go dead, my low fuel warning will appear on the DIC and traction control will turn itself off. After a few minutes everything will come right back, only to go dead again.

My odometer reads ERROR MI, i have no Oil Life % or Transmission temp reading, so I assume the computer is not getting those readings.

Im really not concerned too much about the gauges, my gas gauge hasnt worked right for almost a year. My only concern is that because the cooling fans are controlled by the computer, they might not come on if the computer is not getting a temperature reading.

I know i wired everything correctly, there are no short circuits and no blown fuses. Anyone have any ideas? I really dont want to fork over more money for the Metra harness.

Those Scoshe modules are known to be junk... they take out the data line causing gauges and other random issues. I suggest taking it back. Just my experience.

BTW you'll likely see battery draw issues as well.

As long as you don't care about losing chime and don't use on star just hook your accessory (red) wire from your pioneer to the pass. fuse panel. The wipers stay powered during rap. Its cheaper and works just fine.

can i run it to a constant 12v instead of a switched? I would just make sure to turn off the unit when i park for the night. Im not that comfortable with wiring to run it to the fuse panel.
