This has to be the dumbest design ever. How do you get this thing off without removing the bumper? First person that says "it should just drop right down" dies. Help!?

it should just drop right down
im still alive
Yeah i have no idea what you're talking about.
On the underside of the car right below the rad. The engine/radiator/whatchama call it cover. I got the 3 10mm bolts no problem. The real problem is the 2 plastic "pop in" plastic bolt things. You know those stupid plastic things that you see holding interior panels together? Still with me?!?!? The lower cover has 2 of those things towards the very front of the car tucked up right in there with the lower valance and I cannot remove them because the bumper is attached to it and I don't have enough leverage to pry them loose. Best way I can describe it.
what are you taking it off for? I'm still not quite sure what you're talking about i'd have to look under my car.
take the lower hose off the engine side for ease of access to the clamp.
either side you get off, if you put a real hose clamp back on instead of the spring clamp, it will make life easier in the long run.
Took the day off today get it done. I managed to get the cover off. With one of these dollar store special!
Anyway, Took me about 4 hours to do everything, mutiple flushes, backflush the heater core, change the thermostat and replace radiator cap.
All is well, car runs fine and I'm alittle smarter, a redneck, yes, smarter yes.
At least you have it done now. Where do you live in OH?
Not sure I follow what your saying? 3 10mm bolts came out like butter, the plastic ones are what I pried out with the grill fork.
I have never had to go to the bottom to get the lower rad hose off, always went from the top, but I also have a one of those clamp tools. That thing is the best thing invented to remove those stupid spring clamps. And as previously stated I usually throw them away and replace them with real house clamps.
Under the car looking up just in front of the radiator the plastic part that has a lip some of them have a part that moves with springs. There are 5 bolts that hold it on you must remove all of them for it to drop down![]()
