So I would like to get a dyno tune to have my car running optimal for what mods it currently has ( which is a 3.5 pulley (3.4 also but keep it off cause of timing) SD headers, CAI, canned zzp tune, and spark plugs). I would like to get my timing tuned since i get bad timing at WOT. But i dont know if I have enough mods to even consider getting a real tune, or if I should just wait til i really need a tune with more extensive mods. The only thing i can of is 180 tstat, HVTB from ZZP, or a VS/XP cam. Any inputs?

find someone to do a street tune for ya and when you ordered your can tune did you tell them you still had the stock t stat normally they set fans to same temp but the 180 is usually the first thing to get replaced. T stat street-tune cam re-tune although idk what most people say about top swaps as far as when you can do em or would want too but it might be something to consider

i make these suggestions assuming The only thing i can of is means the only thing I can think of
I'm sorry officer I didnt know I couldn't do that

I have no idea who would be able to street tune. And I dont want to retune my car a hand full of times, thats why i want to knock out the mods i need before a cam retune. Or if i should just retune now, or get other parts that require i retune, install those, and then tune it.

Get everything out of the way then cam and tune. No point in tuning multiple times unless you are throwing on some major mods.

Ya thats what i'm thinking but i'm trying to see what useful things i'll need to buy that will require a tune before camming it. All i can think of is the HVTB or a ported TB that will require a tune. Trying to think of other things to get while im at it....only thing i can think of is 180* tstat but i dont even believe thats necessary or beneficial.

People claim the 180 tstat helps, but there isn't really any proof. I'll most likely end up putting one in my car just for the hell of it. Doesn't seem necessary though.

i guess cooler engine temps, but worse fuel economy. Supposedly it lowers KR...

Cooler engine and worse fuel economy are proven, but the reason people want it is because it supposedly lowers kr. There's nothing really backing that though.

180 tstat and maybe some springs and rockers, unless you want to go through everything you have to do to put a cam in

I was just going to go with camming it since most people who buy rockers say they wished they went with a cam. I will either be getting a VS or a XP, but i wont worry about that now. Just trying to get me a pre cam setup so i can have my car running as best it can without a cam. So far its just modifying the TB, maybe a 180* tstat, and maybe ported SC case? I'm not so sure about that however, would be difficult and costly. Just need a game plan.

Ya i was thinking about that, since they can produce more boost. But I dont know if that will be worth it. I'm not trying to make my car a 12 second car or anything. Would be nice, but still is my DD. So not sure if a Gen III SC will do for my needs

Gen v should be around when you consider intercooling and youd want larger tb to go with it.

Easy to talk about two grand in mods it seems.

So no point in getting a HVTB from zzp? Pretty much I have in mind are : dyno tune, ported tb, ported sc, cam setup, 180 tstat. Not sure which I should do, if I'm missing out on anything or can remove something I don't need; and in which order.

eh, if you have a cam, you'd probably benefit from a TB, but a HVTB isn't big enough to merit the cost IMO, N* or LS1

So just tune now so i can get my A/F ratio and timing on key ( or as well as possible) and just wait for a Cam setup? Nothing in between? And ya I know blue, just trying to knock out as many things as I can before tuning, dont want to have to tune multiple times. Just want one for this setup now, then another one after camming it.
