Just be careful. Even purple can eat aluminum if left on too long.
I usually apply.. give it a moment, rinse. Reapply and rinse again.
Go for it. Unless it says kills paint and aluminum in seconds..lol
I find when cleaning those intake depressions...you can expect to take a shower. So.. wear goggles and expect to be soaked.
It's summer.. man up and clean it. I made Danielle get under her car to clean it. Poor girl probably had grease and gunk in her hair etc.
I would change the LIM. If it's leaking, it isn't sealed. If oil is passing through it, it won't seal.
Make sure to use RTV on the new one, especially in any problem areas you notice. Also, check bolts and bolt holes to make sure nothing is stripped. A little bit of blue threadloc probably wouldn't hurt anything either.
Except..no oil passes through the LIM
Oil/coolant on top of the lim, means the sealant on the bolt threads (bolts go into the heads (oil seeps and coolant areas are under pressure) is shot and needs to be redone.
