First off, thanks in advance for any help that can be provided.

I have a 95 grand prix that has been sitting in the garage for 1.5 years. I would like to drain the fuel tank and fill it with new gas before starting up the car. I have tried using a siphon tube and hand pump, but I can't get into the tank. I'm assuming this is due to anti siphon protection? Or maybe my tube just wasn't long enough (that's what she said)? I need to drain the tank without having to drop/remove it. Is this possible? What would be the best way to accomplish this?

    Thanks again

You could disconnect the fuel line where it goes into the fuel filter and just use the pump to remove the gas by cycling the key to make the pump prime, but that may be hard on the battery. Only other ways I know is a hand pump, or drop the tank.

How much gas is in it? If it's just a few gallons (under a 1/4 tank) then I would just stick a bottle of Heet in it, put some fresh gas in it and fire it up. Betcha it'll start.

This is my preferred method. I have a hand pump already. The tube I was using was a little smaller than a garden hose, 1/2 inch possibly. Maybe 1/4 tubing would work. I'm just not sure what type of anti siphon this car has, ball or screen with holes. I was able to get the 1/2 tube about 5 feet in, but when I pull it out it's dry so I assume the anti siphon is blocking it from entering the tank. I guess I'll go to lowes and try to convert my pump to 1/4 inch tubing and see if that works.

Does anyone know if it should be doable to siphon gas from this car (via the fill tube)? Or is it a waste of my time to even try?

Regarding the gas level, there's too much. It's over a half tank which is like 8 gallons or more. I'm kicking myself for letting it sit so long. I don't know why I didn't start it up and let it run weekly and just add gas as needed. Stupid on my part.
