So my 99 gtp 179k runs weird. Its kinda hard to explain so please try to work with me. I've tried searching scouring the internet and I just don't know so here we go. Say I'm cruising down the road going 35mph, slow down to like 10 bang a corner and get back on it, it loses power. Like I get on it and the rpms drop then shoot up like 3k and it goes. It sounds like **** to. Then today I was going 80 oon the highway and lightly on the gas to keep speed the rpms were jumping from around 2600 to 3000 surging seeming like a missfire but no codes. I've checked plus, wires, coils, changed fuel filter,I did a compreson test, I'm pretty sure all my vacum lines are good. I'm at a brick walll with this. Its gotten worse over the past 2 weeks. Any help / sugestions arre much needed and appreciatted. Matt.

Pretty sure this is all transmission related. The surging is the TCC if I remember right. The rpms shooting up is either clutch or TC slippage. I'm sure someone will chime in with the exact diagnosis, but it's not your motor.

Yep. My RPMs surge sometimes too. Usually more prone to do it when in 3rd or 4th under a load (like going up a hill) and I give it some gas. Mine doesn't loose power around the corners though.

Could be a MAF acting up or a TPS. It's not outside the realm of possibility. My son's 95 olds was doing something similar, we changed the MAF and it stopped.

Maybe the converter is locking and unlocking. Do you have access to a tech2 or good scanner that can live data stream? If so hook it up and go for a drive while monitoring the transmission parameters. See whats going on there if any of the readings are eratic.

Most commonly this is ignition related. You said you checked the plugs and wires. How did you check them?
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
