oil pan drip

hey guys, i just found out today my oil pan is leaking a drop every 2 seconds. thats pretty bad. I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to take this bad boy out. Maybe you guys learned some stuff after you replaced them. Thanks

yes.. i have no idea how to do this. and do not own a engine hoist. was wondering if there was another way

yeah drop the cradle and use something to support the engine. usually you can use a 4x4 across the fenders. the passenger side engine mount bracket will make you wanna shoot yourself if you leave the cradle on

i really wish i would have pulled the engine when i did mine. would have been so much easier

you guys think i should try out JB weld before i go trying to do this

if you can find where its leaking sure.. id drain the oil before you go sticking weld on there.

U sure its ur oil pan gasket and not just oil dripping off the pan. Dripping oil every two seconds from a gasket leak seems pretty fast and bad. Sometimes ur oil sending unit could be doin that

well im not sure what it is, but yes its dropping off the pan. But my only guess was the oil pan gasket. Never heard of the oil sending unit. Where is that located

The oil sending unit screws into the side of the filter adapter, where the oil filter screws onto. Should have a 2 wire connection sticking out of the side pointing towards the firewall. Often the sender will leak when it goes bad. If you remove the electrical connection to it an oil comes out or it look wet inside then its shot.

the thing about oil is that it gets AAAAALLLLLLLL over the place. so your best bet is to clean it as best as you can and follow the trail

That, or is the level sensor in the very front of the pan itself...but yeah, drain oil...clean the piss out of the entire pan with brake clean...and the level sensor, and the pressure sensor, and then...fill with oil...and start it and take a look around there while its running, see if you can see anything. That would be my first plan of attack...TBH.

okay so i found the drip, if you can see that green rubber circle around the bolt.. This picture is taken from the passenger side wheel

That would be the oil pressure sending unit I referenced in the pic above.

If you're talking about the oil pressure sensor (the only thing something green plugs into where you're looking) that's exactly what Fordman posted on post 13. Also, it's gross in there, how can you tell that's where it's leaking from when it looks like someone set off a grease bomb?

the thing with the green on it, is the oil pressure switch, its like a 7/8th wrench or something, I know its big.
