I just bought a 2000 GTP and want to do a tune up, Its all stock so i was just wondering what spark plugs you guys run. I think i just want to put a copper plug in it but was wondering what you recomend?

Also is it worth going to a K&N filter or just replace it with a new acdelco paper unit.

Any other things i should do would be appreciated.

P.S. I took it to the dealer to get the valve cover recall done and they recomend a fuel injection cleaning for 130 bucks but i said no, Do you guys do any thing to the t.b. and plenum to clean them?

Since its used and has a 135k on it should i swap out the blower oil?

    Thanks

    Welcome aboard!

    Autolite 606 plugs
    New Plug Wires
Replace Air Filter or go Open cone
    check coils
    TB cleanup
    Sea-foam treatment
    Oil change, filter
    Coolant flush, new T-stat
Tranny pan drop, new filter and oil
    S/C oil, sure... it's easy
Do water in passenger compartment fix ($3) and add air cabin filter while it's open
    check belts n pulleys
Check brake pads, rotors, tires, maybe alignment
    check struts
check for rust, pinch welds/rocker panels and strut towers
replace foggy/glazed headlights (so you can see) if bad
clean her, hand wax, vacuum, etc.

    Good to go then... (lol)

There are write-ups here that'll cover just about everything. I know I'm assuming a lot, but I' think at 135k you'll probably need most anyway, unless it's a crazy clean car. You can do as little or much as you want or can handle, but those are what I do with any new car.

Oh... add pics please, we all like to see em'

What do you do for the tb cleaning?

Also with the seafoam do you go in the oil or gas? Or both?

    Thanks!!!

Either take the throttle body off and pull the sensors off and clean it or, just remove the sensors and spray it on the car.

Just put some in the gas, i wouldnt worry about putting it in the crankcase.

For injector cleaner I personally prefer techron fuel injector cleaner. But yeah do all of the above.

Water in floorboard (Take 2) - The Permanent Fix - How To Write-Ups/Tech Tips

I was 2 for 2 with my GP's... considering it's just a few bucks to order from a GM dealer near you and a few minutes to do, I thought I'd list it.

I just did the Seafoam in the Vac line, and Techron Injector cleaner in the tank.

I wouldn't put anything in the oil/crankcase but OIL. lol... Just change it regularly like you are supposed to. You can upgrade to Synthetic like Mobile! if you want, it has detergents in it too that over time will clean things up inside. But all in all, that's just personal decision, not really necessary.
