Ride more. Never had to turn my gas to off, nor have I hooked up the battery to a trickle charger. I have the gear, I just don't ride when there's precipitation. Coldest was last winter when it was down to 28 Fahrenheit. Got frost on the inside of my helmet.
Anyway, yesterday, picked up my car after having a tie rod and rack assembly replaced. Went through another tire because of that. Shop gave it to me for half price. Drove the GP to deliver this morning, power steering started screaming halfway through. Took it back to the shop and they added power steering fluid, all was well. Hope there's not a leak - hope it was just pushing the air out that got in when the steering gear was removed.
3.1 shouldn't need premium unless turbo.
I knocked all day on 94 octane with headers while N/A.
Knocked even more on 87.
Go GM factory tunes!
Then premium had nothing to do with "fixing" it.
sounds more like the engine was pinging, using super is kinda known to stop engines from pinging. aka knocking
found this on wiki.
"Pinging" redirects here. For other uses, see Ping (disambiguation).
Knocking (also called knock, detonation, spark knock, pinging or pinking) in spark-ignition internal combustion engines occurs when combustion of theair/fuel mixture in the cylinder starts off correctly in response to ignition by the spark plug, but one or more pockets of air/fuel mixture explode outside the envelope of the normal combustion front.
The fuel-air charge is meant to be ignited by the spark plug only, and at a precise time in the piston's stroke cycle. Knock occurs when the peak of the combustion process no longer occurs at the optimum moment for the four-stroke cycle. The shock wave creates the characteristic metallic "pinging" sound, and cylinder pressure increases dramatically. Effects of engine knocking range from inconsequential to completely destructive.
the rest of it....Engine knocking - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Yes, if it was pinging, then the premium was the cure, but if you are not pinging on 87, premium does nothing for you. It doesn't burn cleaner and it doesn't give you more power.
Also, while I am here, I cleaned the car up today

I do not understand why my case is invalid.
It knocked less with more octane. Suggesting the knocking was real.
I know what pinging is, but it shouldnt ping at idle.
I know the 3.1's are known for rattling.
and if its pinging, then the timing needs adjusting - or maybe the timing chain is out.
Ziptied the ignition release so the key always comes out![]()
Yesterday:
cut both putter tie rods off the car with a dremel cut off disk. Actually like 10 disks they kept Breaking haha. Stupid castle but wouldn't move. We had to cut.
