Gave the 97 a Wash, Buff, Polish, Wax, Checked PSI, poured in some Lucas, Mothered the wheels, Wiped the seats and what not.
Proceeded to take it for a drive, destination to be the Rt 66 mother road car show stopping at Freddie's for a burger and shake.
Just before getting some nourishment, I heard a loud crash. It sounded like bottles breaking followed be a metal on metal clunk, coming from the pass side engine compartment. The motor still running, every thing sound normal. Moments later Battery light comes on. No check engine light. Shut it down, pop the hood, look toward the alternator, and no belt. I look closer and missing a tension pulley (the one with the hoses). Grabbed some food. Took her back to the garage. Lucky for me I have another sc 3800 at my garage I could score the part from. It only took 35 minutes and most of that was waiting for it to cool off so I could take the old parts off. Missed the car show today. Just got back from getting a pizza and it is raining. Thanks raindrops on fresh wax.
Nothing just waiting in a line of cars not even moving. It fell out of the way of the sc belt and the main belt just had one little mark on the side. Not a bit of warning. I inspected the point of fracture and it looks like it was cracked 75% of the way around the shaft that holds the pulley. On the right is an Auto-zone replacement part broken. The Left one is my spare.

Before the failure the white area next to the red mark was the only thing holding the pulley on.
The part I put on looks like an original with the correct pulley.
Its made in Canada so it should last a while.
o damn....was anything else damaged
Nope. It fell off, the belt just hung there off to the side out of the way.
I am guessing the glass sound came from the spring hitting the fins on the inside of the housing and the clunk was the pulley and spring landing on the control arm. I was on a hill so a coasted into a parking spot after shutting it down.
Shes up and running fine.
Almost forgot I put a LED in the license plate light.
I made sure the Tibby was right beside me so he could hear the whine when I took off.
does your hood bounce at all while your driving?

Had to take my trunk liner out and clean it as I picked up some diesel and the container spilt some in the trunk...![]()
Got my buddy to give the GP an alignment.....
Was surrounded by RaceKar.....
Then went to another buddy's shop where we had lunch, then wired up some relays and circuit breakers on his Turbo Ranger project. Was a good day.
I tinted the windows, still have to do the back window. As soon as I give it a bath, I'll get a couple pics up. Also picked up a can of VHT to do the tailights
Cleaned it real good on the outside, popped the hood and checked to make sure everything is good, then threw in a fresh set of al605 plugs. Took it for a drive after and its nice to see how much of a difference 605s are to 104s did a 10mph roll and lit my tires up. Had to have been almost a 100ft strip of rubber i laid down like a boss.
