Re: What did you do to your Car today?
My experience with hubs is that MasterPro is OK if you can walk out of the store with one that isn't defective new in box. I have found the "Precision" brand at O'Reilly's to be a good bearing at a decent price and have not been handed a bad new one yet so thats what I buy. No idea who makes them. I always try any sealed, ball, or roller bearing by hand before purchase. Thats just common sense like wiping the lunchroom fork with your shirt-tail first.
I scored a new Pilkington windshield this morning... MUCH better! They used an aftermarket molding. On to other repairs now.
Re: What did you do to your Car today?
Precision IIRC is Fenco. Maybe it's changed because Fenco is junk lol
Also, SKF at NAPA has a 3-year warranty

Factor in that the CDN dollar is 26% lower than the US dollar, we are at the same price. I used to work for a major parts store, so I get the best possible prices in town.
I'm gonna suck it up and install the Delco one as Timken isn't readily available. At least with the 5 year warranty I won't be paying for a new bearing every two years. My honest feeling right now is that all these hub units suck donkey calk! I miss the good old days of tapered roller bearings that you could service. I had my Bronco for 13 years, beat the crap out of it and NEVER had to replace a single wheel bearing. Go figure.

Amen to that! Many is the time I have wished that a serviceable bearing conversion were available. Somebody needs to manufacture one, or somebody (like a GPF-er) ought to devise a mod that would use a popular older 4WD bearing #. Maybe it sounds crackpipe, but makes sense to me given the failure rate and delicate nature of the existing design. I bet somebody has upgraded to K1500 hubs or something, but I don't know how far back in time you have to go before you get away from sealed 4WD front wheel bearings. I may just be in the dark...
Got fog, park, and marker bulbs for the GTP so it doesn't look so patched up. hacked out the rest of the airbag junk and went back to no passenger seat which I like better anyway. Man, that new windshield is nice. Brightened the appearance of the HUD a little, bonus!
Re: What did you do to your Car today?
lol I just don't understand what you guys are doing to kill quality bearings so fast

Twistys, gravel, burnouts, freeway blastin, potholes, broken ice, you name it... but people keep running into my wheels and stuff. OE bearings can usually take a beating, all others= meh, IMO.

That's what erks me. My daily drive to work is around 70 km (30ish miles), and that is 90% straight line driving on the freeway. Other than that I don't put on that many miles.
With that being said, Murphy has been hovering his black cloud over me for the past few years. LOL
Re: What did you do to your Car today?
About to shoot my car. Alternator problems...still. and seems to be running a bit rough. I was testing the alternator and with it up to temperature if I goose the throttle the engine will choke then rev up like normal. I investigated and found a ripped plug boot, so I replaced them. No change. Then I saw the pink snow underneath the car. Looks like I have a transmission leak from the cooler lines now. WTF else?
Re: What did you do to your Grand Prix today?
replaced my boost solenoid. goodbye to the 2nd of 3 codes! and once I get it in the mail. ill be replacing my window switches on drivers side. then maybe I can roll down my window. just replaced the dam track too.
Re: What did you do to your Car today?
Installed a K&N sticker on the left/rear window of the regal. Noticed a louder blower whine, and sotp gain of at least 20hp. Should've done it sooner!
Re: What did you do to your Car today?
i got no stickers, but must have gained 50 hp so far.
Re: What did you do to your Car today?
Trans cooler lines suck, they never want to line up right.
Re: What did you do to your Car today?
Drove mine to Radio Shack to pick up the components for the TCS auto off module. Noticed some RPM oscillation under light acceleration. Uh-Oh...

Holy hell, ditch that egr already, that looks terrible, brugg. These new cars coming out are getting faster and faster, I've resorted to using stickers to keep up, you better do it soon scotty, before you start losing to hyundai elantras.
Re: What did you do to your Car today?
Hey don't hate, I'm still a noob. haha
Re: What did you do to your Car today?
She let me down today for the first time. She couldn't handle the 7 inches of wet thick snow on the all seasons lol I had to back her out of her off road adventure
Re: What did you do to your Car today?
With the 2 bottles of techron fuel system cleaner I put in, I wanted to do some hard pulls at wot at some point in this tank of gas. Did a lot of wot yesterday on the freeway. It was pretty cold at the time, and as usual it's got way more power at the 15° it was than when it's above freezing. Very noticeable, I don't know why that is. Wish it was always like that. Trans shifts better too, very instant and firm. It will spin the wheels on dry pavement for like 15 feet going straight lol
Re: What did you do to your Car today?
Dense air makes more power.
Colder/harder tires and cold ground make wheel spin a breeze, it's like making hockey pucks spin.
Re: What did you do to your Car today?
Right but this seems much more significant it should. Most cars aren't like a night/day difference. Any yeah cold tires don't grip as well. It will do that on hot summer days too but not for as long
