Lucky you have that available, my impact can't take off my lug nuts but it took off the axle nut so I don't even.

Yeah same here. The one I was trying to use today won't always take the lugs off but did get the axle nuts. Weird how that works huh? The one at work isn't the best either, once in a while I need to borrow my bosses IR impact. I should just get the one my boss has and be frustration free. He's got the Ingersoll 2135TiMAX, this weeks paycheck would pay for it and more so why not.
Just found this one, it;s stonger than my bosses. I'm going to get it.

No idea why it happened. I googled the issue and found where it happened to a few people before on the AutoGeek forum. I already emailed AutoGeek and told them they need to send me a new one. It wouldn't be so bad if I had gotten a few uses out of it, but seriously 1 truck and not even a 1/3 of my car? I seriously did the roof, the trunk. the spoiler, and the taillights. That's it before I noticed it. Good thing the pad didn't fly off while I was using it, because that could have caused massive paint damage.
Hope they send new pads.
Me too. My only issue now is apparently I had forgotten about a bunch of little nicks in the paint and the Black Box kit must have hidden them for the past year plus. After clay barring the car it looks great....... other than all the damn nicks. I wish I had the extra money to respray the whole car. I'm considering asking my buddy who is painting my hood how much it would be for a scuff and spray. There is really no body work that needs done. There may be a door ding or two, but nothing major.
I do have some of the black box kit left, though not sure if there is enough to do the whole car again. I may go buy some of the HF pads and pick up another black box and just apply the BB cleaner wax and BB wax with the PC and cheap pads and just save the Mothers stuff I picked up last week for another car/another time. Maybe $20 on Turtle Wax will save me $1000+ on a repaint. LOL
Just keep up on it regularly haha still comes out cheaper than a paintjob.
Mayco or whatever 299 paint jobs, I bet that quality is horrendous.

You couldn't pay me to take my car to Maaco. The only way I'd ever consider Maaco was if I was into flipping cars, and even then I'd just set up my own booth and go buy cheap materials, do it myself, and still get better quality than Maaco.
I still don't see how they can do $299 paint jobs when materials alone cost more than that and they still have to pay overhead. Even cheap, bottom of the barrel, garbage materials cost more than that.
Anyway, the biggest problem with my car is it has 170k miles on it and had seen a lot of highway, even before I bought it. I don't think the paint was ever properly cared for before I bought it. I think the only time it ever got waxed was right before I bought it from the dealer that I got it from.
I really don't want to put money into a paint job though because I honestly don't know how much longer I will really have the car. If I am responsible I should keep it for at least a few more years. If I get impatient I will be looking to get rid of it as soon as I pay it off come November. LOL
I would drive it till the trans dies or something major it. You do have a GP right? Wouldn't be worth much anyway.
That 299 do they just wash the car then paint it I wonder lol, I cant see that even paying for the labor unless its a min wage guy and then I bet if you asked him he probably hates his job and tell you to drive far away.

The best reason I can come up with to keep the car is two fold. I will be able to save money on not having a car payment, and that money saved can be put into getting my Stealth back on the road. Also, as you said the GP isn't going to be worth much as a trade in anyway.
Sweet baby Jesus!!! So far the car is fixed! I warmed it up to 160*F (engine @ 200*F), drove it a little, and came home added a quart. Drove it to Walmart and it behaved perfectly, added another 1\2 quart, then test drove it more. I REALLY tried to make the TCC oscillate and it acted just like it should. Before when I did this It'd be like I was watching "Night at the Roxbury." It shifts quite a bit faster and at times it's harder, I think the TAPS need to be reset, but that's nothing I have a buddy with a Tech II. When I left Walmart I got on it a little and it shifted (border line slammed) into second pretty hard, but I'm not worried about it.
Sweet man glad you finally got it, you only had that trans apart way to many times right.

Three times total, pulling the channel plate twice. I'm cautiously optimistic, we're getting ready to head out to dinner, so let's see if it continues to work right, lol!
Just got back, and that 1-2 shift under light throttle can be pretty harsh, but no TCC problems as of yet. Here's hoping, but for some reason I have a bad feeling about that 1-2 shift. damn it.
give the shifts a few days to clear up, the trans is learning how you drive it still.
Just let taps do it's job, I'm sure it will get better. Not sure if it will go all the way normal though, taps only does so much it seems.
I know my current trans issues would be solved with a new channel plate/valve body. The slower shifts when hot. But I want to fix it myself instead of replacing all of it.
Also today I removed all the metal brackets under the hood except for the dogbone mounts. Looks much more open now. I just used black zip ties to keep the wires where they're supposed to be.

I got a pretty good deal on this, that's why I opted to go with it. I actually paid more for the valve vody and channel plate than I would for a different transmission, lol. Needless to say, if I do end up getting another transmission, this valve body and channel plate is going on it. When I got home it was about a half quart low so I topped it off again, so that could be a contributing factor to it as well. No codes though, and the hottest it got was 185*F which is hotter than before I started all this, but still not anything to worry about.
Russdinoguy I ran a 14.9 last time. And Dan I would love a tune before hand but it's not a big deal. I can wait until Friday and just beat him twice as bad next time.![]()
Got my rear header back from being welded up. Look at that.. I found someone to weld my SD's way faster than a certain someone.... Too soon? Lol
