Obviously the prior owner kept driving it this way. I did drop the pan and the magnet had the left over remains of the splines on it. Clutches look to be in pristine condition. I did find signs of previous work so I wonder if it was overhauled at some point but why wouldn't they change the damn 4th hub if it was rebuilt! I'm just praying the sun gear is ok. I'll find out when the new 4th hub comes in.

when a tranny is rebuilt they dont change everything, they change what broke and slap it back together. its a huge scam going on out there. unless they tell you flat out they will change all the clutches and any worn or wearing out hard parts and all of the sensors.

really sucks when you think your rebuilt tranny is rebuilt, but in truth its only been repaired.

so if only 1 st gear was slipping, they will change the 1 st gear clutches and done.

yeah I hear you. I learned to do most work myself because of all the dishonesty I have run into. Started back when I was a teenager with my 84 transam. The crap I went through over tranny work with one shop! However I have never done internal engine work or tranny until now. I would just swap. But this 4th fix didn't seem too hard to do so I figured I would try it.

when i was a kid and i got a car my parents told me flat out, its your car, you WILL pay for everything. so dont ask for jack sh it lol

being a kid with no real income the junk yard was my friend, the library had chiltons manuals, i had to fix my cars on my own.

best was the look on my father's face when he came home and i had the engine out of the 77 gmc. (the only thing they gave me and it was still his) lol hes like that had better run again and he walked in the house lol

I solved that problem once, at least in my mind. Asked for the old parts out of my GT's 4T65E. Still have the junk but that way at least I saw what all the noise was, the differential. Brought the same guy a 4T65E-HD that was still in nice shape but had small wear issues affecting driveability (that long 1-2 reach) and was treated like a king. Lucky I guess.

Yesterday I cleaned the GTP coolant tank, today the weekly wash and some rattle can love on three panels. Strike one for DupliColor, this high dollar can I bought sprays like chit. Now theres black spots all over the driveway and me and the paint job could have been a lot better. The spray pattern was OK but the nozzle sprayed into the can rim making a complete mess. Had to do a little cleanup with polish due to that. Will probably go back later after swapping to a better tip from a cheapo can.

i start to spray off what im painting, as the can gets low it can tend to spit a bit at first. clear the tip by turning the can upside down and spray the tip for a second to clear it between coats. wipe off the tip too.

and keep shaking the can too.

Yeah that wasn't it. Not spitting but the fan pattern created by the tip was so wide that it sprays into the rim of the can. Not bent, either. One pass and you're flinging a little pool of paint off the top rim of the can.

nice. now clear it sand and buff.

i looked real hard into my paint, and its got metal flake, very light. so ive been using the duplicolor GM met black. its got very fine flake like the real paint does.

Aw if I can find me a good-spraying tip, I can get it wet enough with the single step. I ain't tryin to fool anyone with it, just tired of looking at white areas. If I get enough color on it, then I may hit it with a buffer and / or some 3000 grit if needed. Clear would make it shine better but I have wicked cracks too, so ... i drive junk!

if you dont clear it it will buff off. ask me how i know lol

i over sanded the top of my back bumper, took the clear off. it got all rough looking and feeling, so i sanded it smooth with 1000 and buffed it some, black was on the pad. so no clear coat left.

so the next thing is to re paint and clear the top, just like yours lol

I went and bought all the oil I needed, did the oil change on my uncle's diesel tractor. I also got the carb off my uncle's 390 mustang. Anyone know how to rebuild an older 4 barrel Holley? I did find a youtube video rebuilding a very similar carb. Numbers are: 3310-2 3203

Be very careful if using carb dip. They probably don't sell that anymore. I am 100% old school but my life has been all QuadraJets and Edelbrock Performer Series carbs. And of course lots of two barrels. But not one Holley have I run, ever.

Scotty, I usually don't do any more than hand rub on these "spot repairs", around the edge. Hell if it gets nasty looking, a thinner rag takes it all right back off.

its just rather crusty looking. like its been in a barn for the last 20 years. all varnished up inside i bet.

see if you can find the part # on it, then google a rebuild kit for it.

    Yeah I found
    List 3310-2
    3203

It seems as long as the rebuild kit works on a 3310 in general it will work for this one?

Non-stick rebuild kit, and super rebuild kit. Hmm this is new to me.
