I laugh at this. Considering people don't go to the track that often, and street racing is illegal, what really should our first concern be? Lookin' pretty. There is obviously a difference between absurd and tasteful, but the large majority of the population is not going to notice your go-fast parts and what not, and if it doesn't look pretty, they don't care.
Completely stock, I used to get compliments occasionally about how nice my car was. They weren't talking about speed, they were talking about looks, and that was with plenty of exterior defects (which I've now increased 10x by crashing it twice and ruining the paint on the bumper and no longer get compliments).
Tl;dr: Who cares, if it looks nice, that's all that matters to most people.
