I pulled the dashboard out of my 2001 Grand Prix GT so I could refinish it, as the color had faded in the middle, and it had a couple cracks that needed fixing. Pulling the dash wasn't easy, but I followed the guide that others made, and got it out and refinished it. Now I've put it back in and have been slowly reattaching the other components, but I made a mistake and forgot to put back a Delphi gadget that clips in on top of the dash under the plastic upper dash trim panel all the way in the corner on the passenger side. I suspect it might be a module that controls the airbags or something like that, so I don't want to just forget about the thing.
So two questions: What is this thing?
And: In putting the dash back in the car, I may have covered up the portion of the wiring harness that leads to this gadget. I may have to undo and slide the dash back off to find the wiring, but I don't have any wires in the area where this gadget goes. So if possible, where do the wires that go to this thing come from? Is it from the main harness that runs near the bottom of the glove box, or somewhere else?
[EDIT] Fortunately, I took a photo when I had the dash out, and I see the wiring harness for this gadget is there. Since I already have the dash bolted in, I'll see if I can fish it out with a wire hook. Otherwise I'll have to remove the dash mounting bolts so I can slide the dash forward a bit to get to this harness:
[Another EDIT]: Successfully fished the wire out with a bent coat hangar. Proceeding with dash reassembly.
Thanks in advance for any info.
