As summer the summer heat has progressed, so has my coolant temps. I've been a little curious lately because I am seeing temps higher than expected, even when cruising on the highway.

In the previous 6 months or so (colder weather), the car has been under 180F at almost all times even when doing pulls. Usually around 174F. For the last month I've been seeing daily temps of 190+, sometimes close to 200, when cruising on the freeway. Ambient temp outside is around 90F +/- about 5 degrees. The car seems to end up cooling better at a stop or in traffic compared to cruising, which is a little concerning.

I'm not worried about damaging anything at 195F since the L67 runs hot from the factory, but I do feel like the mods I have should be handling the heat better. Shouldn't cruising on the freeway bring the temps down a lot even if it's hot as **** outside? What temps do you guys get when cruising on the highway when ambient is ~90F? Any thoughts?

    Relevant mods:

Thicker, full aluminum radiator with no dexcool
    180* Tstat
FSIC (might slightly help with coolant temp?)
zzp canned tune with lower fan settings
[Daily] 2002 GTP 40th Ann - FSIC, dp+plog, 3.3", ported LIM, HAI, front+rear sway bars, poly mounts, zzp tune for now :/
[Fun] 2012 mazdaspeed3 - dp, 3" intake, FMIC, HPFP, Custom tune, lots of other goodies

mine does the same thing, I just got the AC fixed in mine so I've been driving it to and from work more often and even with E85 it still runs hotter like that.

Mine is pretty much the same with the exception of cooling down at stop lights or when in Traffic the temp will slowly rise to around 210 or so. I always thought it would cool better moving then when stopped or in traffic, is this not the case?

I had this in CO for bad summertime traffic. - http://www.pfyc.com/GN3003.html

I didn't notice much except that it seemed hard on my charging system. Honestly was kind of a neat curiosity, but so would be tits on a boar.

Getting stuck around Charlotte NC during rush hour once, from 75mph to a standstill at 5pm, I-77 parkinglot!
Temp went to 230 f sitting with the a/c on but dint loose pressure or coolant, temp would go down a little as we
crept along but still hovered at 225, finally north of Charlotte traffic started moving again temp went back down to
normal. Didn't seem to be an issue with the car, all is still fine 3 years later.
