The way I see it, is with a 98 to 03 GTP, we are now talking close to a 20 year old car. To me the book value starts to become irrelevant at this point. It's not taking in the fact that a clean rust free low mileage 98 to 03 GTP is becoming hard to find. This is where supply and demand start to play in, Although I do not believe these cars will ever become a high demand collectible car, I do believe there is still a strong enough following for them that the really nice ones will and do get a higher price then book paid for them.

They dont make cars like they did 10-15 years ago. Theres alot of people that loves these cars, sadly alot of them have had a city life so they get beat on and ran into. I recently found & bought a 40th with 50k on it up here in NY off of Craigslist. They are out there, id suggest looking south.

I made a fair deal on the car. So far it is a real sweetheart of a car. I have a little over 100 miles on it now. No leaks, tight interior. Its certainly nicer than any other used GP I have looked at for several years.

I am buying one today for like 300 over book here in MI. There's no rust on it, so that's rare, especially here.

I drove over 500 miles one way left at 4 am and got back after midnight later. Rented a uhaul dolly to tow it back, couldn't find anybody to go with to drive 2nd vehicle back. Considering that extra time and expense I paid more than book for sure.

if it is what you want it is worth while. I took a 2000 dollar hit trading in a 2014 Cruze on the 2008 GXP I have now. I like the GXP so much better. I was just trying to be funny when I said that.

I paid right under book for my 04, right before it turned 10 years old and lost 3k in value. Lol

But it's taken every ounce of abuse I can throw at it and just keeps going. So I'm gonna keep it until the doors literally fall off. Then I'll weld them and go dirt track racing. Lol

There are alot of them around where I live but they all seem to have over 200k miles on them and or they are trashed which is to be expected for the age. I am picky and was looking for one with really good cosmetic condition.

That trip wasn't that bad but the time and distance is at the top end of what I would be willing to do again. You gotta realize if you have never been out west, that there are wide open spaces with interstates at 80 mph speed limits. I think I saw two cops the whole trip.

NEVER pay over book. Book price assumes perfect condition. Even factors in mileage.
