are you saying it won't pop up, or that it doesn't unlatch?

If it's not popping up, get new trunk lift struts.

If it's not unlatching, the position of the latch might need adjusted side to side or front to back.

It doesn't even unlatch, when you press the trunk button it makes the sound like it wants to open but doesn't pop open. I climb through the back seat to pull the emergency switch and it opens that way.

Try lifting the rear deck while you press the button. I think that's what War was getting at.

You don't think it's a blown trunk fuse?

That's easy enough to check. My car isn't here, so I can't listen to what all sounds it makes when I open the trunk.

The emergency release is just a cable that goes to the same latch, iirc. If it's not a fuse, I'd look for a ground fault next. Beyond that I'm not sure

When you press the button a relay is triggered. That might be the click, unless the click is at the latch.

I'd check for voltage at the relay and latch.
