    Hello all!

Apologies for not using search, and I'm sure this is not unique to Pontiac, but I'm kinda in a hurry.

Friend lost a trunk key for her 1990 GP and, in retrospect, I should have driven it to a locksmith and made life easy (AAA wanted $170!), but with no inside release or apparent, easy way to go in the back seat, I went all Yosemite Sam on the lock.

Now I have a trunk lid with a clean hole, it still won't open and I can't see anything inside. Also, before the cylinder popped, I tried turning it with a large screwdriver. I should have tracked down a professional car thief.

    Help!

If you have the cylinder out you should be able to put a screwdriver in the hole and engage the latch and turn it to open the trunk

I thought the same thing, but after the cylinder came out (with end tab in place) all I can see inside is darkness.

    blow-up pic of assembly, anyone?

You would assume correctly! Nothing on this car.

Finally, thanks for all the advice from Forum members!

I'm checking out now since I discovered the car has major front, sub-frame damage that has jacked the left tire beyond alignment, and will be scrapped. I've been offered $75 at a salvage yard.

    All the best!
