Any brands recommended for after market rotors? Drilled ,slotted, or combo. Looking to replace all four, originals probably beyond turning. Also heard that slotted tend to be noisy, any thoughts?

Slotted is fine.
Stock replacement is fine.
If it's a stock Grand Prix brake setup...then get the 12" Impala/Monte for the front. Super cheap and inexpensive way to upgrade.

In my opinion, avoid the slotted and drilled stuff. Get a good rotor that has a coating on the hats and veins to help prevent rusting. I like Centric brake parts and then Bosch being second. Advance and Autozone stuff would be next. And like Blue said, get rid of the stock setup and go bigger for cheap. I am going Lacrosse Super up front and GXP rear when the time comes.

What is the dia. of stock rotors? How would bigger ones fit without changing calipers and bracket?

you need to upgrade the calipers and brackets to either impala or f bodys. those are 12 inch and dual piston.
i got f bodys up front, aka Camaro 98-02 front calipers and all. with R1 rotors and scorched pads on all 4 corners. best brakes ever. stops like a boss all the time, hot cold, they don't care, they grip like nothing ive ever driven before.
and ive spent a 100 on just front pads that didn't feel 1/2 this good. front f body rotors and pads was 120, stock rears 80 ish for the r1 set up.
I could only imagine these R1 brakes on stock calipers would be a vast improvement. I plan to buy these for all cars I do brake jobs on. worth every dime.

Okay, so I got new ceramic pads since the old were getting critically worn. After install, the front brakes have a nasty scraping noise upon moderate to hard braking. Ideally I would have replaced the rotors,(which I still might do) but time was against me. In the past I put on new pads(not ceramic)without machining rotors and they set in just fine. Is this characteristic of ceramic pads when breaking in? Yes, the front rotors are slightly grooved, rear are still pretty flat. Can I still use the pads with new rotors after driving for awhile with the old? Or am I causing any damage while braking under this condition?

sounds like they are still grinding into all the grooves in your rotors, should have cut them if they are deep. or replaced then.

They seem to have seated in now, no more noise. However I will replace rotors next time, which will probably be sooner than later as I believe my front pads will wear faster with grooved rotors. At least I can stop better now
