exhaust supercharged 2 stroke diesels are much older than that my friend.
but yeah, the L67 is a bit older than 97, but the m62 was first on a mule in the late 80's. as with the 3800 they sourced their own blower from eaton in a rather complicated a2aIC that is what led to our m90 design integrated into the SII
remember its the later SI (94/95) and the SII that gave the LS1 its proven oil system, valvetrain and symmetrical ports.
concurrent development was heavy with the beancounters...plus GM was hitting its stride with the PM parts
The design of GM's M90 was already in place in Eatons 94-95 Supercoupe supercharger which was also used by Allen supercharging and a few other kits available in the mid 90's as well. The GM version was just basically the standard Eaton flipped upside down with a cast in mounting flange and inlet with an internal bypass valve. Production prototypes of the Gen 3 design have been found that have casting dates of 90-91 with keyed shafts and a press on shaft model was found with a 92 date. We were a little puzzled as to why the pulley wouldn't come off. We didn't even believe a press on pulley would handle the stress back when a guy bought one off of eBay. I've never seen a GM prototype only Eaton prototypes in the configuration used for the SC's
Nice thread, made of wood.....I've learned something too
