Hi guys! I'm new to this forum, I joined because my car won't move and I wanted input from other people that know what they are talking about, anyway I have a 2000 Grand Prix SE with 284k on the drive train.

one day I floored it and when the tranny shifted down it totally missed the gear and redlined, now I have no gears, I rolled it home and I went underneath and listened and right where the trans is connected to the axle there is a huge rattle, and it obviously gets more aggressive if I rev it up. Maybe it's the front axle? can someone help me diagnose this?

If you have no movement even when you put it in manual first gear, either the pump is dead or the input shaft may have snapped.

    Just two very possible issues.

most shops charge around 500 or so to swap a tranny. having a shop rebuild it tends to start at 1800 and only go up from there.

where you live? there maybe a local willing to help out at cut rate prices. trans swap can be done in your drive ways, if the flex busted that also can be done in the driveway.
