I looked through all 26 pages of the tech write-ups & did not see this particular swap mentioned. I am new to Pontiac; though I have had several 4 cyl. Cavaliers over the years.

The GP is running but has a really bad miss that was traced to very low compression on #6. I can get a low mileage 3.1 from this Century for a good price but I'm wondering if or I should say what issues I will have. I will be getting the whole car so if there's any parts I need from the Buick; it will be available.

I'm mainly concerned if it will bolt up and the electrical issues (OBD I vs OBD II), sensors, etc.

I would like to move on getting the Century quickly so I'm hoping that someone can confirm this swap will work. I'm having a bit of a hard time finding a good site that has this interchange information.

Thanks for any and all posts! You can even call me names if that makes you feel better. No ego here; just want to get this done.

I'd look at the motors themselves, what engine code each are.

I think they are too different to be a direct swap. The OBD 1 isn't going to be anything like the OBD 2 motor thats for sure.

I swapped a motor from an 01 into my 94 CS. I didn't do most of it because I was working such long hours. Basically used the block and heads and swapped everything else from my 94 and it runs great still many years and miles later.
