Yesterday I disconnected my battery to store the car. I locked the doors and now I can not unlock my doors with my keys. And obviously the remote will not work since the battery is not connected. Anyone have any ideas or experienced this before? My owners manual says the keys should unlock the driver door but it odes not, I tried both keys.

try to get the trunk open yet?

you can take the grill out or reach up from under the front to un latch the hood too, then hook the battery back up.

Thanks for the reply. My trunk doesn't have a keyhole, just the drivers door.

you need to pop the hood them, iirc your grills screw in from the out side of the bumper. then you can pull the part of the latch the cable is hooked to, the cable is your hood pop latch release.

penetrating oil through the key hole, it'll be messy but you can lube the internal mech with the can nozzle straw down through the weatherstripping above the key mechanism.

if you know the key has worked in there before, just gently keep working it back and forth, spray, work it for a bit, soray, etc.

this is far too common since people never use physical keys

Had the same issue a couple days ago on my regal. Just reached up from underneath the front bumper and popped the hood by hand, hooked up the battery and was good to go.

The funny thing is I used the keys to unlock the door just last week when the cars battery was connected and it was working. Does it only work if the battery is connected?

I wouldn't know which cable to pull on to un latch the hood. I might have to call my automobile association (CAA).

On as side note, when I looked at the battery cables yesterday the positive terminal was extremely corroded. I cleaned it out with baking soda and water. While I got most of the crap off, the flat part near the top post connector looked like it was almost broken in half from corrosion. Might have to replace?

if your looking at the latch where the cable meets, you see the bare cable lead to a leaver, pull that leaver towards the cables mount.

or pull the cable if you cant see the lever.

Got the doors open. Still have the problem of the keys not opening the door. I sprayed the keyhole with a silicone grease last night. Tonight we'll see if it turns.

Nope, the key barrel won't budge at all.
I called the dealership in Montreal and they said a barrel is $187 plus $27 to code it.
    What are my options?
As the driver door is the only point of entry with a key I find it vital that it works in case the remote entry battery dies or the remote malfunctions or the car battery is dead, like in the middle of winter when the car is not used very often.

auto parts stores sells new locks and a key got like 20 bucks, most have a pair of locks, one for each door. you may find a single lock and key set up, not sure.

My car has only one lock, and it's on the drivers door. No lock on the passenger door and no lock on trunk so it so very important to have the key working.

found this parts list and diagram. id take yours out, soak it in some kind of oil maybe, then take it apart and clean and re build it.

The key still doesn't move at all with all that lubricant.

I did something. I tried the key to see if it would lock the glove box. Guess what? It doesn't even go in so I'm figuring the previous owner had the ignition cylinder replaced and got a completely new key? Is this possible? If the key doesn't unlock or lock the door, doesn't fit in the keyhole for the glove box, what does this mean?

Can I go to the dealership with my VIN and can they check to see if I have the correct key? For the ignition or for the door?
