I recently had an opportunity to buy a new car that was just too good to refuse, so the time has finally come to sell my GT. I bought this red, two-door Grand Prix in 1999 after saving money throughout high school. It has been my daily driver ever since and the only car I've owned! It has 160,500 miles and various issues started creeping up around the 155,000 mark. Thanks to the grandprixforums here, I have learned how to replace/upgrade various parts of this car in the last year, including installing a new fuel filter, new serpentine belt and tensioner pulley, new spark plugs and wires, new MAP sensor, new PCV valve, pan-drop and transmission filter replacement, and new transmission cooler lines. Feels good to learn how to do car maintenance/repair on your own and save tons of cash!

There are a few issues that need to be fixed, but I think it would be worth it. The first issue is a slow coolant leak that seems to happen to most of these cars, according to the forums. Before I purchased my new car, I was going to do the LIM gasket replacement to take care of the leak. The oil has never been milky in any of the oil changes I've done.

The other issue is, last fall I noticed the car wasn't accelerating from a standstill like it should be. It didn't have that pickup like it should have, as if there was a loss of compression somewhere. On one of the few cold days we had here this winter, I noticed exhaust coming from under the middle of the car and upon closer inspection, I found exhaust was escaping from a small hole in the catalytic converter. I'm guessing that is where the loss of acceleration is coming from, so you'd need to replace the cat converter, or this could be a good candidate for one of those catless downpipes.

The body is in pretty good shape, with a few little chips here and there. There are a few minor dents on the driver side body, where an ex-girlfriend backed into it. A vandal broke the plastic on the right rear tail light, but it still works fine. The clearcoat is fine on most of the car, with the exception of the spoiler, where it has mostly peeled off. The car still looks really good after a wax!

I put new tires on two years ago, and they only have 9,000 miles on them. The A/C needs work and I haven't fixed it because I like driving with the windows down. The cruise control doesn't work and I haven't fixed it because I only drive it locally. Otherwise, this has been a great car these last thirteen years! I live in southern Illinois and I'm asking $1200 or best offer.

The car is in Carbondale, IL. There is no visible rust on the body, however there is a little bit of rust below the rockers under the car. Nothing out of the ordinary for a 1997 vehicle that spent most of its life in the midwest.
