So it doesn't look like this will work with the CS144 alternator bracket (1997) GPs, right? They don't have the bolt hole for the support strap....right?

Works with 97s. Actually the first car to get one was a 97 (the very first pic at the top of the thread)

97/98 have the same setup, while 99+ have a different alternator setup.

But the strap is cut long enough to reach both. (thus why it needs possibly trimmed)

If you have something totally different, then may need to come up with your own strap setup.
