IMO, you'll need more mods to drop a size safely.

    Something exhaust wise.

Need some exhaust work like downpipe, headers etc. It's better to have more then enough mods to drop pulleys safely then not enough mods.

    3.8 - Stock, 91 Octane
    3.6 - Plog/Headers, DP, Tune, 91 Octane
    3.4 - Plog/Headers, DP, Dyno Tune, 93 Octane
    3.2 - Plog/Headers, DP, Dyno Tune, Rockers/Cam, 93 Octane
    3.0 - Plog/Headers, DP, Dyno Tune, Rockers/Cam, Intercooler
2.8 or Smalelr - Plog/Headers, DP, Dyno Tune, Cam, Full stack Intercooler, 93 Octane

That list should be about right and pretty safe. I ran E85 in my car so I was on a 3.2 pulley with only headers and a tune :P Now I got that snail power!

    http://www.grandprixforums.net/threa...ding-Your-3800!
    Great read.
Downpipe, plugs, and a tune you can probably run a 3.5 or even a 3.4 as long as there is no nock. Will from Overkill told me I could probably run a 3.4" with his tune, a 180° t-stat, ZZP downpipe, and plugs as long as all other maintenance is done and there is no knock. I also have a 1999 GTP

With the mods she has currently she might be able to go with a 3.6. Remember each car is different.

Tis true. I have no knock on mine and its stock other than the ZZP downpipe. I am going to get an Overkill tune and drop to a 3.4" and measure for knock again. As I said, a ZZP downpipe, plugs, good tune, 180° thermostat, and no knock you can run a 3.4" as long as there is still no knock. I do agree, with her current mods I would probably not drop below a 3.6" pulley. Maybe a 3.5" with a tune and plugs.

I wouldn't go to a 3.5 without a downpipe at least, or race fuel lol.

But then at that point might be able to run a 3.4
