    Should I install a cold air intake or just keep my old stock intake? Will I gain more horsepower? Will it throw off my computer to where it would cause other sensors to trip and not get the same performance? Will I still get the MPGs I'm getting now?cause my stepdad is a know it all and he told me that if I put the cold air intake on it would mess the car up and throw off the computer and get less horsepower.please give me some advice. Thank u for ur time reading this.

    I put one on and it did not seem to affect the sensors ran rough for a few miles then straightened itself out noticed about 3 miles less per tank full

    It's a supporting mod. It won't mess anything up. Gains/losses will be unnoticeable. If you have a supercharger, it will make it whine. Otherwise, it's a cheap mod, go for it.

    Thank u guys for ur advice.should I bring it out by the front tire so it doesn't suck in the hot engine heat? That should help horses and make it a deeper growl.any way I should extend the intake that far and where should I position?and yes I have a eaton m90 SC. And can I drop down to a 3.4 or 3.6 pulley with stock headers without messing up anything?please drop some knowledge on me gentlemen......

    these cars knock stock. headers before any other mod imho.

    It's not really a good idea to drop pulley sizes without throwing headers on it first.

    Intake will skew maf so that youll run leaner.

    Might get a little power from that.

    The fuel trims will make up for the extra air coming in, it wont mess up the sensors or computer or anything. Basically the computer self adjusts.

    No. leave it how everyone else does, behind the driver headlight. It won't "growl" deeper or anything like that, and bringing it out by the tire will just result in it getting wet and getting water in the intake.
    You don't have stock headers, so get headers before dropping pulley sizes.

    I installed a cold air intake in my 2000 GT and gas mileage got worse plus the sound of it is kind of like tinny if you understand me. As soon as a get a chance, I am going back to stock

    I dont get your logic.

    I dont think an intake will make much of a difference.

    they look cool. and you can wash them. but i don't see how it could help anything unless you had some way of getting air straight into it. it seems like it might actually be worse because there isn't a direct path to it from where the air comes in behind the head light. i also don't understand why its called a cold air intake. its pretty hot under the hood and since it is an open cylinder it seems like it will mostly get hot engine air.

    and given that several people above said it doesn't make a difference, then what is the point for performance? how does this help with other mods? is it because it supposed to introduce more air into the intake?

    to kind of piggy back on that.....the claims that are made is that they will add horsepower and add fuel mileage. then why aren't they oem?

    all that said, i think i will build one and put it in because it looks cool. if it makes anything worse i will take it off.

    Yes it allows more air into the intake. The factory airbox is a restriction.

    As far as them not being OEM has to do with "creature comforts." Cars are made to be quiet for the average consumer. There is baffling built into factory intakes to quiet them down. You won't get that silencing with an open intake

    It doesn't make anything worse, and more often we have Short ram or Hot air intakes, if I recall they're dyno proved. Plus there is less turbulence due to straight pipings instead of the weird one that comes from the factory. If it does worse than oem, I'd say that you obviously did something wrong.

    Main reason most people do it is to actually hear the damn blower.

    +1 for hearing the blower. That's really the only reason I did it, aside from needing a new filter anyway.
