I know this isn't a Grand Prix, but I hope its OK. I really need help. This car is driving me nuts. It is a 1998 Olds Intrigue with a naturally aspirated 3800 series 2.

At random times, the car will stall while idling. Sometimes it will misfire or stall while accelerating. Most of the time but not always the tachometer will jump way up when it misfires, and then drop rapidly if it stalls. If the car is moving sometimes but not always the speedometer will drop when it misfires. Sometimes the speedometer starts working again right away, but sometimes it will not start working until the car is shut off and restarted.

Today I also noticed that the air conditioner stops cooling while the speedometer isn't working. The blower stays on, but the air warms up. Very shortly after the speedometer starts working, the air gets cooler again.

I had the codes read and it said the crank sensor was out of range. I changed it, but it made no difference. I have tried a different ignition module and coils with no difference.

Any ideas? I am stumped and really starting to dislike this car.

Thanks guys.
