why would anyone put less than 91/93 in a gtp? isn't that harmful..
Cause Y'all in some parts of duh country don't think 93 is super unleaded. On a cross ****ry tryp I needed a little ole splash of go go juice. Pulled off the big road in the center of a cornfield and treked 5 miles to whut y'all called a Rogers mini mart and gas station. The choices werrrrr 85, 87 and 89. 89 was labeled Ultimate. Didn't seem very ultimate to me. Luckily I had about 4 gallons of 93 left in the tank and I took a splash of this inferior crap. Drove her nice to to a place with electricity and 93 octertane.
I fill up at Costco, yeah anything charged gets 93, as it's common in my area.
Highest octane available at Speedway in our GTP
Cheapest available in my wife's Suburban
Only fill from stations that turn over a lot of diesel for my truck. (Botanophobia for my diesel)
Kwik Trip is huge in MN/WI. They are constantly advertising their gas is rated "Top Tier". What exactly does this mean?
My 03GT runs great on their 87, and my belly runs good on their pizzas, donuts, and all their other food too. Milk, bread, and several other items are even cheaper than the local Cub Foods grocery store.![]()
I know this thread was a few months old and revived just today, but for everyone saying 93 "burns cleaner", you couldn't be more wrong.
All octane is is detonation preventer. 93 is no cleaner than 87 and 87 octane burns no dirtier than 93. They all have the same cleansing additives and the like at the same stations. The only difference is the amount of octane.
That being said I run 93 in the GP even though I rarely drive it hard. I'd rather have that extra knock prevention from gasoline rather than depend on the ECU to pull timing to prevent said knock.
Normally fuel companies add more detergents and stuff to the higher octane premiums compared to the regular gas. Thats where the cleaner burn comes from. But my gp runs on corn so it doesnt care.
my N/A has 3 degrees of knock with 89...wtf
Since the gas prices have increased, and a broke my trans, I run 87 in the car, the difference is that i have tuned for it.
and for the doubters, i just got 31.2mpg (calculated not DIC) on a 340 mile trip with 3.29 gears going 80mph with about 400lbs of camping and detailing supplies
Top Tier Gasoline
I can get 91 octane E0 enriched with nitrogen for the same price as 91 most anywhere else.
Shell V power.
When I first threw on the intercooler i was running 87 with a stock pulley.
No issues, ran just the same.
